During his time as director of Jodrell Bank, Sir Bernhard Lovell turned a patch of Cheshire countryside into one of the worlds leading radio observatories.
In this talk we take a look at the origins and scientific career of a man described as the great pioneer of radio astronomy. He is most memorable for constructing the telescope that is named after him, which is one of the great icons of twentieth century technology, and a marvel of modern engineering.
