Testing Einstein's theory of gravity to the limit with the double pulsar system and gravitational lenses observed with the Lovell Telescope and MERLIN array at Jodrell Bank Observatory.

How solutions of Einstein's equations that agree with current observations (in part made with telescopes on Tenerife) now require the existence not only of Dark Matter - which we know almost nothing about except that It must be there - but also Dark Energy about which we know even less!

Dr lan Morison made his first telescope at the age of 12 and went on to read Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy at Oxford before joining the Jodrell Bank Observatory In 1965. He was a designer in the 217 MERLIN array - one of the most powerful radio telescopes in the world and, for five years, searched for signals from extra-terrestrial civilisations in Project Phoenix. He has been President of the United Kngdom's largest astronomical society and, In 2002, a minor planet was named in his honour. He is the co-author of two astronomy books for the general public with more In the pipeline.
